The research demonstrates that the majority of the domestic workers, approxmately 80% of them, come to the cities through the agents. There are subtle ways of agents operating the racket-like marrying local village women, thich makes it easier for the agents to work in the tribal areas. There are examples of men marrying women from different areas to facilitate traficking. Offering commission to young boys and girls, often tribals themselves, for trafficking to Punjab, Delhi, and to other cities is a common phenomenon. The hundreds of placement agencies thrive on this business.
